Porn-napping

Recently I came across a great new word:

It appears to be the latest case of "porn-napping" -- an increasingly common form of cybersquatting where pornographic Web site operators snatch lapsed domain names from other companies, said Rick Broadhead, who is writing a book about cyberspace screw-ups.        AP, 6/25/2003

What's unusual about this new word is that the productive -napping suffix is attached to a subject (thematic agent) rather than an object (thematic patient). The suffix -napping means, roughly, "to kidnap." It is attached to the object of the kidnapping, so that for example dog-napping means to kidnap a dog, not that a dog does the kidnapping. Here, the suffix is attached to the subject of the kidnapping. Porn-napping does not mean to kidnap porn; it means for porn websites (really, "pornographic Web site operators") to kidnap other websites' URLs.

It remains to be seen whether this subject-attaching usage of -napping will become productive. One can only hope.
