FINAL PAPER [NOV 13]

The final paper is due on December 15 before 10am in my office (or pigeon hole/mailbox). Since I will be leaving my office right after that time and travel a bit, I cannot accept any late papers.

CLASSES V [OCT 25]

The final schedule of the remainder of this semester incl. the class presentations (for download here).

CLASSES IV [OCT 15]

I provided a brief schedule of the remainder of this semester (for download here).

CLASSES III [OCT 6]

Next week, our classes will be presented b y Christopher Laenzlinger and Gabriela Soare from the University of Geneva. There will be no class on Tuesday; instead, Christopher will talk on Wednesday at 6.30 pm in room E 003. This will be part of the Cyprus Linguistics Forum, a n informal group of linguists in Cyprus, and afterwards we will go for dinner and drinks. Please let me know if you're interested in joining us. Gabriela will talk in class on Friday. Both abstracts can be found as a class "handout" (here). They will both deal with "cartography" at large, so this Friday we will talk about that a little bit on the basis of the abstracts.

CLASSES II [SEP 30]

The week after next, Christopher Laenzlinger and Gabi Soare will be visiting us from the University of Geneva. (i) Their purpose is to present to us/you students the University of Geneva as a potential SOCRATES exchange university (so think about it!). (ii) Christopher's talk will be on Wednesday at 6.30pm as part of the Cyprus Linguistics Forum and we will thus reschedule our Tuesday class to that date.

CLASSES I [SEP 6]

We still have to decide whether we want to meet as scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.30 to 2.45pm -- or whether we'd like to ease up and exchange one of these dates for an evening class in the context of a Syntax Reading Group. The reading group could meet one evening every other week or so and we could use it for discussion of recent work, presentation of research by Cypriot linguists -- and your class presentations, for example. The advantage would be a larger audience, namely anyone around who's interested in syntax, and we'd have guest lectures as well. So think about it. (There's no rush.) The new tentative syllabus is ready for download (and I'll disperse it on Friday.)
