HOMEWORK 5 & 6 [DUE April 15 & 18]
Due Tuesday (April 15): General Problem Sets 1 and 2 (Carnie: chap. 10, pp. 307-308).
Due Friday (April 18):
Provide a summary, in your own words, of Dr. Volker Struckmeier's two lectures (typewritten, at least two pages) -- you may want to concentrate on relevant issues for English (or even Greek), zoom in on a particular issue (theoretical or empirical) or point out a particular problem, or simply summarize what he did, but in your own words and with your own illustration (no excessive copying from the handout).
NB: I uploaded Dr. Volker Struckmeier's article (and also the slides from Dr. Maria Kambanaros' presentation).
HOMEWORK 3 & 4 [DUE MARCH 18]
General Problem Sets 1 and 2 (Carnie: chap. 7, pp. 214-215) constitue the third set of exercises to be graded. The fourth was the question from class: If I replace [IP NP [I' I VP]] by [IP subject [I' predicate]], are we talking about notational variants or are the two different? Justify your answer.
HOMEWORK 2 [DUE MARCH 4]
The second set of exercises to be graded comes from the (new) textbook, as discussed last class. You should draw the two trees corresponding to exercise #c and the three to exercise #f of General Problem Set 8 (Carnie: chap. 3).
HOMEWORK 1 [DUE FEBRUARY 12]
The first set of exercises can be downloaded here (distributed in class 6). Please write in your name and hand in the filled out paper (yes, handwritten solutions are fine this time!).
In general, it's a good idea to take a stab at the exercises Andrew McIntyre suggests in his short text. By the end of the morphology part (i.e. before the mid-term exam), you should be able to solve all of them. I would classify them as follows:
A, B, C, E, H, N (easy) Ð F, G, J, K, M (medium) Ð D, I, L (challenging)
