I will hand out the take-home final-exam sheet next class (July 16). It will be due on Wednesday before the final class, July 30, at 12 noon sharp. Late-comers will definitely not be graded. NO EXCUSES! You can come into my office on Friday, August 1, to pick up your exam and Schein (don't forget to bring your A+B Schein). You may come in between 10am and 12pm as well as from 3 to 5pm. After that I will be gone. As you've seen, there are plenty of opportunities to make up for missed homework exercises. Just to make sure you all get it: am Ende benote ich die besten sieben Hausaufgaben zu jeweils 10% der Gesamtnote; nicht abgegebene Hausaufgaben unter der Anzahl sieben zählen als "6" und das take-home zählt 30%.

In Class 4 today we continued with last week's handout. For next class, homework is Exercise V from Radford (p. 77). And here I only want you to draw one tree per sentence, no text necesasary. I assume that if you read the chapter and helpful hints, you know the terminology and how to apply the operation Merge. Next week, we will finish our discussion on phrase structure and constiotuency and introduce features to the system.

The grading mode stays the same as per the very first handout OUTLINE from Class 1. I will give you enough homework opportunities to then count the best seven homework grades, and there will be a final take-home exam. You had your chance. I'll try and keep the exercises shorter, but there's no guarantee. The downloadable handout for Class 3 does not contain the proposed change in grading mode, it contains the origianlly planned homework exercies which is invalid. NO HOMEWORK FOR CLASS 4.
